Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

Ultrasound examination remains as an inexpensive and safe method for assessing various musculoskeletal conditions.

Ultrasound examination when performed by a skilled operator, can accurately assess the conditions of ligaments, tendons, synovium, nerves as well as skin and subcutaneous structures.

At CareScan, we have subspecialty trained sonographers and radiologists specialising in musculoskeletal imaging working as primary operators and supervisors in musculoskeletal ultrasound studies. By taking a detailed history and performing physical examination, we are able to gain an accurate understanding of the patient’s condition and tailor the imaging to specifically answer certain questions.

The commonly performed musculoskeletal ultrasound examinations include examinations of the shoulder, wrist, elbow, fingers, hip joints, trochanteric bursa, knee joints, ankle, small joints of the feet, carpal tunnel as well as superficial musculotendinous structures.

Once a pathology is demonstrated, we are often able to assist with its management by performing ultrasound-guided pain management procedures such as injection of corticosteroid, dry needling and/or injection of platelet rich plasma. Ultrasound guided drainages of Baker Cyst, ganglion or blood collections can also be performed at CareScan.
